				Informationen
The Trauermusik (Mourning Music) is a work in consistently calm tempo. The systematic meter changes are inspired by Boris Blacher's variable meters. While the sounds in the beginning are mostly long, the motion increases as the work goes along. The harmonic language oscillates between tonal chords, clusters and highly dissonant layers of sevenths. The title «Trauermusik» is of course already taken, all the more in connection with the viola, by Hindemith's Trauermusik for viola and small orchestra (1936). In contrast, this work was not written for any specific occasion, neither does it contain religious elements. The first performance on May 22nd, 2022, took place in Heidenheim, Claudia Zimmermann played the viola, the composer played the piano part.
